TOP 5 Instagram Shots: June 2018
Each week we pick some of the best instagram shots that YOU have taken from across Canada and tagged with #canadaexplored ... then we do some homework and add a story about the location where the shot was taken! Simply tag your next photo for a chance to have it shared!
Looking back over the last month, here are our favourites (with a shout out to the photographers):
The Story: Halifax is the largest Canadian city east of Quebec and was founded 1749 by Governor Edward Cornwallis. Fun fact: it has more pubs per capita than any other city in the nation! Oh, and it’s beautiful too! (📸 @mr.e.shooter)
The Story: During the summer months in Canada, on clear moonless nights and away from the city lights, the Milky Way Galaxy can be seen with the naked eye. When experiencing this incredible sight, just remember that the light from these stars has travelled 26,000 light-years to reach your eye! With a long exposure, the camera can pull out incredible details like these. (📸 @peergardenimages)
The Story: Calgary is one of those cities that has a lot to offer on both ends of the exploration spectrum. Want to enjoy some unique eats in town? Head to OEB for breakfast (just be sure to get there early). Or how about a hike to some gorgeous views? Just head half an hour out of town to Bragg Creek! (📸 @3to2) #canadaexplored
The Story: Two common sights across Saskatchewan are in this photo ... storm clouds and a hay bale. Each are a symbol of this province that bills itself as the "Land of Living Skies" and produces about half of Canada’s wheat each year! (📸 @anitafaye71)
Port Alberni, BC
Port Alberni is located on Vancouver Island, BC and has a long history with Canada’s First Nation people and early European explorers ... it is a gateway to beauty, as well as west coast communities like Bamfield, Tofino, and Ucluelet.
