Top Five Winnipeg Family Activities
Families are always looking for exciting places to explore and we've teamed up with a local Winnipeg, Manitoba Youtubing family called, BockFive to check out the top 5 family-friendly activities that their city has to offer.
There are so many great places to take families in Winnipeg and choosing only five was a tough job, but hitting them all on the same day was even crazier for us, but we did it for you!
Our recommendation would be that you pick just one one of these activities and spend your day exploring it thoroughly, because each one has so much to see. Oh, and let us know what you liked best about each one.
Fort Whyte Alive is a nature preserve within the city that has both an indoor, interpretive centre and outdoor nature trails including bogs to explore, five lakes, a herd of bison, 7km of hiking paths and more which makes it accessible and interesting for families year round. There are hours and hours of fun and learning for the entire family.
Winnipeg Children's Museum is over 100 years old and filled with a dozen exciting, interactive galleries for your kids to engage with. There "hands-on" approach allows children to experiment and actively learn as they play in the creative environment. Plus, the museum provides activities for parents to use for continuing the learning when the family is back home.
River Boat Tours let the family relax and enjoy a scenic and historically informative tour of Winnipeg's Assiniboine River as the boat captain provides commentary on points of interest along the way. It's definitely an activity to bring the camera along for and, because it leaves from the heart of the Forks Market area, there are plenty of adventures to be found before and after the river journey.
Bridge Drive-In is a classic Winnipeg location for family fun, because it's where you get the cities best ice cream and shakes. Our recommendation is the world famous "GooG", but there are many flavours and treats to choose from - we even saw a banana split served in a bowl made from a half pineapple! Once you have your order you can walk to the near-by pedestrian bridge and enjoy views of the river.
Assiniboine Park and Zoo features a playground, nature conservatory and a zoo full of exciting animals such as Red Pandas, Cougars, Seals, Polar Bears, Monkeys and more! For over a century, Assiniboine Park has served Winnipeg as a hub of year-round activity for the whole family. There is so much to do and see here.
